The short version #

OverServed runs on your phone. We designed it so there is almost nothing to collect.

  • We do not sell your data. Ever. To anyone.
  • Your contacts never leave your device.
  • What you type into Slosh Check never leaves your device and is never stored.
  • We only share your location if you asked us to alert a friend and you stopped responding to check-ins.
  • OverServed cannot detect drugs, and it is not a medical or safety-certification device. See “Spotter” below.

What stays on your device (never transmitted) #

Data that stays on your device
DataWhyWhere it lives
Your contacts and their phone numbers To temporarily hide contacts you chose to protect, and to restore them Encrypted app-private storage on your phone
Text you type into Slosh Check Scored on-device for typing patterns, then discarded Memory only — never written to disk, never sent
Installed app list To let you pick which apps to lock Memory only
Drink log, check-in results, Bouncer test results, lockdown history Your Morning After report and streaks Local database on your phone

The Slosh Check analyzer, the Bouncer scoring, and the Spotter check-in logic all run entirely on your device. No message content is ever uploaded, logged, or transmitted.

What we transmit, and only when #

Buddy alerts (Designated Approver). If you name a buddy and enable Spotter, then miss the check-ins you configured, we send that person: your first name, that you missed check-ins, and your approximate location at that moment.

  • Sent only on the escalation you configured, or when you press the panic button.
  • Not sent if you check in, or tap “I’m fine.”
  • Location is transmitted only at the moment of an alert. We do not track or store your location history.
  • Incident records are deleted from our servers after 30 days.

Account basics. If you create an account to link a buddy, we store an email address (or phone number) and a random user ID. That’s it.

Subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Google Play. We never see or store your payment details.

Crash and performance data. Anonymous, aggregated, no message content, no contacts, no location. You can opt out in Settings.

Permissions, in plain language #

PermissionWhat we do with itWhat we never do
Contacts (read/write) Temporarily remove and later restore numbers for contacts you selected Never upload your address book
Usage access See which app is in the foreground so we can show the Cut Off screen Never log your browsing or app history to a server
Display over other apps Draw the Cut Off screen Never capture your screen
Location Attach approximate location to a buddy alert; optional bar-area auto-arm suggestion Never continuous tracking, never sold, never advertising
Call redirection Cancel outgoing calls to contacts you protected, while armed Never listen to, record, or log call content
Notifications Status, check-ins, buddy alerts

Emergency calls are never blocked. Rides and emergency services remain reachable at all times, by design.

Spotter — important limitations #

Spotter watches whether you are responding to check-ins. It does not analyze your drink, your body, or any substance.

Spotter cannot detect drugs. Nothing on a phone can. Silence from Spotter never means you are safe.

Spotter is a convenience feature, not a safety guarantee, not a medical device, and not a substitute for emergency services. Do not rely on it as your only protection. If you believe you are in danger, contact local emergency services.

Your rights and controls #

  • Delete everything: Settings → Delete my data. Removes your local database and any server-side account/incident records.
  • Restore contacts at any time, including if the app is uninstalled — recovery instructions are at https://overserved.app/restore.
  • Access/portability: email [email protected] and we will provide or delete what we hold within 30 days.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined.
  • EU/UK (GDPR): our legal basis is your consent and performance of the service; you may withdraw consent at any time by disabling features or deleting your data. Contact [email protected] for access, rectification, erasure, or to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

Age #

OverServed is for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Material changes will be announced in-app before taking effect.
